Panther Cross Country Team Shows Exceptional Character and Support in DeQueen Meet

Magnolia, AR — At the Leopard Invitational in De Queen, AR, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, one Panther runner faced an unexpected setback when he twisted his knee during the race. While the injury affected his performance, what stood out most was the incredible display of teamwork, compassion, and Panther spirit shown by his fellow athletes.

As the runner worked to make it back to the tent, his teammates immediately rallied to his side. Several athletes, along with the runners' parent, helped him walk, while others provided encouragement and support every step of the way. Head coach of Panther Cross Country, Ryan Franks, quickly contacted Magnolia Panther Athletic Trainer John Caston, who guided teammates Presley Hanson and Dejuan Dismuke, who are in the Magnolia School District’s Athletic Training program, on wrapping his knee to prevent future injuries.

In addition to their physical support, the team showed heartfelt admiration for their teammate’s perseverance and determination to finish the race despite his injury. Their collective encouragement, quick action, and unwavering care exemplify what it means to be a Panther.

“This team is so amazing,” the athlete's mom said. “Their capacity to rally around one another in times of need is a hallmark of their exceptional character. As a team parent, I am deeply grateful to have witnessed this team’s growth and development over the years and eagerly look forward to their future achievements.”

The Magnolia School District celebrates the Panther Cross Country team not only for their athletic performance, but also for the outstanding sportsmanship, empathy, and unity they continue to display.

This week 7th grade students became detectives as we investigated the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. They were highly engaged as they explored different theories, examined primary and secondary sources, gathered evidence from videos and readings, and then wrote about what they personally believe happened to the colony. While the true answer remains a mystery, their excitement, creativity, and thoughtful reasoning made for a fun and memorable week of learning!

💥 Seventh grade scientists put their curiosity to the test today! Students experimented with different bath bomb ingredient combinations to discover what makes them fizz and release gas. 🌡️ Their investigation is helping them answer our big question for the unit: “How can we make something that wasn’t there before?” 🧪✨ #HandsOnLearning #OpenSciEd #FutureScientists

Magnolia Middle’s Panther Academy students really blew up their science skills Friday! Under the watchful eye of Mr. McLaughlin, these budding chemists mixed vinegar and baking soda, unleashing a fizz-tastic reaction that had balloons pumped with excitement—literally. While the gases did the inflating, the students inflated their own brainpower, making sharp observations and clever inferences about the bubbling spectacle. It was a blast… without any pop quizzes!

Our 7th graders stepped back in time last week! After learning about the Oregon Trail, they got to play the journey and even taste a trail staple: hardtack, just like 1800s explorers survived on. A fun (and crunchy) way to bring history to life!

Students first had to figure out how to navigate the game before beginning their journey.
Students explored the many challenges people faced along the way.

Our students are growing their own rock candy while exploring how crystal formation models the rock cycle. Just like igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks, these sugary structures take time, heat, and the right conditions to form!

❄️💨🔥These young scientists turned up the heat in science class today! With a paper plate, some string, and a blast of serious warmth, they set their experiment in motion—literally! As the warm air rose, their plates spun like magic, proving just how powerful temperature can be. This phenomenon definitely brings the heat when introducing interacting air masses!

🍋 “This lemon-tastic, hands-on lab had students squeezing their way to scientific success! Our young scientists put their skills to the test, investigating whether heated lemons yield more juice than those at room temperature. With a splash of curiosity and a squeeze of critical thinking, they collected evidence, tested their claims, and crafted rock-solid claim, evidence, and reasoning statements. Who knew science could be so refreshing?”
