She loves reading non fiction books and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She especially loves how her family sticks together when times get tough. This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Charlotte Foster. She teaches 6th grade English and Pre AP English. This is her 23rd year teaching and she’s taught all grades K-7. She and her husband live on a farm and raise cattle. They have a daughter, Lacey, (who also teaches at MMS) her husband, Blake, and their two daughters. Her hobbies include reading, sewing, fixing puzzles, and spoiling her grand babies.

This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Rachael Jones. She is a first year teacher teaching 8th grade science and accelerated physical science. She has been married to her husband for ten years, and they have three daughters. She loves to travel and spend time with her family. She especially enjoys going to her girls’ softball games, cheer competitions, and volleyball games. She loves supporting the Magnolia Panthers and seeing her students doing what they love.

The Magnolia School District will be closed Friday, January 14 due to the number of staff and students absent. This day will be used as an AMI day. All school events will be rescheduled. The District will evaluate the numbers over the next few days to make a decision when to return to normal schedules. The District will be closed Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Hopefully school can resume on Tuesday. We are sorry for any inconvenience due to this late announcement.

This week's Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Kaitlyn Mahaffey-McGee. She is starting her third year in Magnolia as the Director of Choral Activities for Magnolia Middle School and the Assistant Director of Choral Activities for Magnolia High School. She is a professional opera singer who has worked with Henderson's Opera and The Muses Creative Artistry Project in Hot Springs. She has been in numerous musical productions and is a founding member of the Mu Mu chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota at Henderson State University where she received The Sword of Honor for demonstrating the highest forms of musical leadership. She is an active member of the Hot Springs SAI Alumnae Organization, National Association for Music Educators, and the American Choral Directors Association. She also teaches private voice lessons to graduating Magnolia singers in hopes they can receive vocal scholarships and achieve musical success. In her spare time she enjoys singing, playing the piano and trumpet, and composing her own music. Music is her greatest passion. She also enjoys playing games, hiking, painting, fishing, reading and spending time with her husband, Charles and their pets which include two cats, a dog, and two bunnies.
