MMS recently formed a math team that competed in the Math Counts competition at SAU. All students did a great job at their first math competition. Darius Adcock and Xola Schlamp placed in the top 16.
Members of the team are Cord Launius, Xola Schlamp, Ava Morgan, Rylie Brasher, Henry Broome, and Darius Adcock. Mrs. Donna Chastain is the coach.
Congratulations to the students in Mrs Reed’s 7th grade science classes who not only met their growth goal for the winter science NWEA but exceeded it!
Recently, our district made some changes to the science fair policies. All students in grades 3, 6, and 9 will compete in the MSD Science Fair Competition. However, any MSD student in grades 3 through 12 may choose to independently enter the science fair.
For the students enrolled in grades 3, 6, and 9 projects will be completed in-house by the STEM teachers. Students will work during their class periods to collect data in small groups. Each student will write up their own science fair documents and arrange their own project board in class. Students will present their project boards at a designated time for the competition.
While all students in grades 3, 6, and 9 are required to complete the class project for a grade, students may choose to complete an independent project for the science fair competition. Students are only allowed to enter one project.
The top-three projects in each category for each grade will have the opportunity to present their project board at the SAU Regional Science Fair Competition.
Please contact your student’s science teacher with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Magnolia School District,
Science Department
