Magnolia Band Program Earns Sweepstakes Honors for 2025–2026 School Year
Magnolia, Arkansas — The Magnolia Band Program has earned Sweepstakes honors for the 2025–2026 school year, recognizing exceptional performance by both the Magnolia High School Panther Band and the Magnolia Middle School Band in regional assessments conducted by the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association (ASBOA) Region III.
The Magnolia High School Panther Band received straight superior ratings at the ASBOA Region III Marching Assessment in October 2025. The band continued its outstanding performance at the ASBOA Region III Concert Assessment on March 10, 2026, earning straight superior ratings in concert performance and a superior rating in sight-reading. These achievements qualified the ensemble to receive Sweepstakes recognition for the school year.
The Magnolia Middle School Band also demonstrated excellence at the ASBOA Region III Concert Assessment on March 10, 2026, earning superior ratings in both concert performance and sight-reading, qualifying the ensemble for Sweepstakes honors as well.
The prepared portion of the concert assessment is evaluated using a detailed rubric by adjudicators who have met the state’s qualifications through multiple rounds of adjudication training. The sight-reading portion challenges bands to learn and perform a piece of music they have never seen before within 7 to 10 minutes, depending on classification. During this time, the director must efficiently teach the music, communicate musical concepts, and prepare the ensemble for performance. After the teaching period, the band performs the selection for the sight-reading adjudicator, who evaluates the ensemble throughout the process.
The Magnolia School District congratulates the student musicians and directors of the Magnolia Band Program for their continued pursuit of excellence and for representing Magnolia with pride.
