8th grade science students explore Newton’s First Law today by completing a penny drop and a marble roll. Students had to make a penny fall in a cup by flicking a notecard. This proved to be challenging for them but by the end of class almost all of the students had mastered it. Tug of war with marbles was the second activity. Students had to try to keep the marble centered by blowing through a drinking straw.

Eighth graders enjoyed Arts and Education Poetry Week last week. Four guest poets worked with students in English classes each day to learn the basics of poetry and help develop their creativity. The week culminated in a Poetry Night at Magnolia Arts where several students performed their pieces.
