MAGNOLIA MIDDLE SCHOOL HOLDS 6TH GRADE SCIENCE FAIR
The Magnolia Middle School recently held its first annual 6th grade Science Fair on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. The students competed in five categories:
• Environment Science
• Engineering
• Physical Science
• Biology
• Medicine and Health
Judges selected winners from each category and chose an Overall Winner and an Overall Runner-up. The 2021 Overall Winner went to Baylee Kinnaird with her project “Cowabunga.” The Overall Runner-up award went to Ansley Stultz with her project, “What the Fizz.”

Science Fair Information for 6th Grade:
Final Science Fair projects/boards are due by 8:15 a.m. on March 1, 2021. Students will be responsible for bringing the boards to school Monday morning. Boards cannot be dropped off or set up by parents.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Science Fair will not be open to the public. However, there will be a virtual opportunity to view all the projects.
Projects are due by 8:15 Monday morning. Any projects that are turned in late will not be judged, but may be graded (late work policies apply).

Science Fair Information for 6th Grade:
Final science fair projects/boards are due by 8:15 a.m. on March 1, 2021. If students would like to turn their board in early, they may bring them to school any day this week.
Just a reminder - Boards turned in after the due date will be graded but will not be judged.
Magnolia Schools will resume all regular class schedules and bus routes tomorrow (2/24)
Transportation Update:
Assume that most routes will be partial as buses WILL NOT travel on icy roads. The following routes will not run 2/23:

MPS will resume onsite instruction 2/23 with a one hour delayed start. Buses will run one hour later than normal. Buses WILL NOT travel down icy roads. Stayed tuned for a list of routes that will not run.
With more winter precipitation moving into our area the MPS will be closed for on-site instruction Thu., Feb. 18 and Fri., Feb. 19. Students and staff will continue with remote learning and instruction. All buildings will be closed. Be safe, stay warm and have fun.

MPS will pivot to Remote Learning through Wed., Feb. 17. While we realize the chances are high that conditions will not improve, we will continue to assess weather and roads and announce plans for remainder of the week on Wednesday.

Mrs. Reed’s accelerated science students made Valentine’s Day Cards for photosynthesis - either from them or from cellular respiration. They used their knowledge of these processes to thank photosynthesis for all it does for us.

National School Counselor Week in Arkansas
Governor Asa Hutchinson has proclaimed the week of February 1-5, 2021 as National School Counselor Week in Arkansas to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within the U.S. school system and how students are different because of what they do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students meet their college and career aspirations.
The Magnolia School District recognizes the contributions of nine school counselors employed by the District. Each day these counselors make significant contributions to lives of our children. The District greatly appreciates the remarkable work these counselors do to provide a positive influence on the future of all students. The Magnolia School District counselors include:

Congratulations to the MMS Quiz Bowl team! They competed in the regional tournament last Friday where they placed 3rd. They will compete at the State Tournament February 6th. Landon Heinze and Skylar Montgomery both qualified for the All-Tournament team, with an average of 7.50 and 8.50 questions per game, respectively.
