NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK IN ARKANSAS
Governor Asa Hutchinson has proclaimed the week of February 7-11, 2022 as National School Counselor Week in Arkansas to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within the U.S. school system and how students are different as a result of what they do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students meet their college and career aspirations.
The Magnolia School District recognizes the contributions of nine school counselors employed by the District.  Each day these counselors make significant contributions to lives of our children.  The District greatly appreciates the remarkable work these counselors do to provide a positive influence on the future of all students.  The Magnolia School District counselors include:

This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Ms. Valerie Gillaspy. She is a 6th grade math teacher who’s been teaching for 22 years. 
She loves reading non fiction books and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She especially loves how her family sticks together when times get tough.

This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Charlotte Foster. She teaches 6th grade English and Pre AP English. This is her 23rd year teaching and she’s taught all grades K-7.
She and her husband live on a farm and raise cattle. They have a daughter, Lacey, (who also teaches at MMS) her husband, Blake, and their two daughters.
Her hobbies include reading, sewing, fixing puzzles, and spoiling her grand babies.

MMS Student Council surprised the staff with a hot chocolate cart today on National Hot Chocolate Day. What a sweet treat!


This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Rachael Jones. She is a first year teacher teaching 8th grade science and accelerated physical science.
She has been married to her husband for ten years, and they have three daughters. She loves to travel and spend time with her family. She especially enjoys going to her girls’ softball games, cheer competitions, and volleyball games. She loves supporting the Magnolia Panthers and seeing her students doing what they love.

Baseball season at your Magnolia Boys & Girls Club of Magnolia is just around the corner.  You will not regret it!  Registration is January 5th - February 18th.  It’s time to act now!

Due to the high number of isolated staff and students, Magnolia School District will use an AMI day on Tuesday Jan. 18. We will return to onsite instruction Wednesday, Jan. 19. After-school activities will remain as scheduled.

The Magnolia School District will be closed Friday, January 14 due to the number of staff and students absent.  This day will be used as an AMI day.  All school events will be rescheduled.
The District will evaluate the numbers over the next few days to make a decision when to return to normal schedules.  The District will be closed Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.  Hopefully school can resume on Tuesday.
