This week's Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Kaitlyn Mahaffey-McGee. She is starting her third year in Magnolia as the Director of Choral Activities for Magnolia Middle School and the Assistant Director of Choral Activities for Magnolia High School.
She is a professional opera singer who has worked with Henderson's Opera and The Muses Creative Artistry Project in Hot Springs. She has been in numerous musical productions and is a founding member of the Mu Mu chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota at Henderson State University where she received The Sword of Honor for demonstrating the highest forms of musical leadership. She is an active member of the Hot Springs SAI Alumnae Organization, National Association for Music Educators, and the American Choral Directors Association. She also teaches private voice lessons to graduating Magnolia singers in hopes they can receive vocal scholarships and achieve musical success.
In her spare time she enjoys singing, playing the piano and trumpet, and composing her own music. Music is her greatest passion. She also enjoys playing games, hiking, painting, fishing, reading and spending time with her husband, Charles and their pets which include two cats, a dog, and two bunnies.

This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Jennifer DeLoach. She teaches 6th grade social studies. She’s been teaching for 4 years.
She is married to Michael, and they have two sons. She enjoys going to church, spending time with family and friends, golfing, hunting, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She loves to smile, laugh, and learn new things.

Earlier this semester, students in Mrs. Reed and Mrs. White’s Pre AP science classes created sensory toys. This was a wrap up to their unit on body systems. The toys will be donated to classrooms within the district and other organizations in need.



This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Mrs. Robyn Stultz. She teaches 7th and 8th grade special education. She has been teaching for 17 years and has spent the last 11 years in the Magnolia School District.
She is married to her husband, Dustin, and they have two daughters, Ansley and Kaitlyn. Her hobbies are watching her girls participate in activities. We are thankful for all you do at Magnolia Middle School!

Congratulations to this week’s Spotlight Teacher, Mrs. Ashley Reed. This is her 6th year teaching 7th grade science, and she is also the MMS quiz bowl coach. Her husband, Dillon Reed, also teaches science at MMS. They have one dog, Daisy, and two cats, Calla and Aster.
She enjoys baking, reading, watching Netflix, trying new restaurants, going to new places, and cheering on the Magnolia Cubs and Panthers! This week, we’re cheering on you, Mrs. Reed!

Students in Mrs. Klober’s Cub Academy made bird feeders this week.




Students in Mrs. Reed’s cub academy session today got to take part in a real world example of a chemical change by making butter. Students took turns shaking their containers of heavy whipping cream until they had butter and buttermilk. Afterwards they enjoyed the fruits of their labor on crackers!



Conferences Today

This week’s Spotlight Teacher is Coach Dustin Bakenhus. This is his 7th year in education, and his third year in Magnolia as the head softball coach, assistant junior high volleyball coach, and teaches 7th grade PE and health.
He is married to his wife, Shelby. He enjoys officiating travel softball and high school football. He is a former Division 1 softball umpire for the Southland Conference and the SEC.

Congratulations to Donna Chastain, this week’s MMS Spotlight Teacher of the Week! Mrs. Chastain has been teaching for 26 years. She currently teaches 7th grade math and Pre AP math.
She has a “crazy” husband, two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two awesome granddaughters. She loves to do crafts, sew, and travel to see her granddaughters and the Razorbacks. We are thankful for your positive attitude and dedication!
